"When do you stop hating the gym?"
Years ago it would baffle me when people talked about 'hating the gym.'
I didn't get it. I loved the gym, it was my fortress of solitude (I've been watching a lot of superman lately).
In fact, I would look forward to every workout. Every chance to get better - to improve.
Even getting up early was no big deal for me, I would have gladly sacrificed sleep to go to the gym.
And while I'm not as obsessed as I once was, I still love the gym and would go every day if my schedule allowed it.
But there are a lot of people (maybe you?) that hate going to the gym. They hate exercise.
It's painful, it makes you sore, it's hard, it hurts... I'm sure you can add your own.
So the question is - when do you stop hating it? When do you start enjoying exercising?
And my answer is actually pretty simple - we hate the things we're bad at.
Once we start getting good at something, we start liking it a lot more. So that means you have to suffer through the shitty part of exercising, to make it to the other side of "being pretty good" at it.
And my best advice in this situation is to focus on improvement - on getting stronger, on performing the exercises better, on eating better.
Because once you see that progress - it's like a drug. You're going to want more and more of it. You're going to want to push yourself harder, workout more, and eat more strictly.
So if you're still struggling with not really enjoying what you're doing at the gym...
Give it a little time, and just focus on those small little steps that help you get better.
Before you know it, maybe I'll see you on the bodybuilding stage...
It's happened before - to many people that never expected it of themselves. My wife being one of them.
(then she went on and owned a bodybuilding tanning business - a different story for another time).
If you need any extra motivation in the meantime, I call my 1.21GW Pre-Workout "Motivation in a Bottle".
It'll kick your focus up, pump you full of energy, and demand a high level of performance in the gym.
