Dog lovers beware
Back in 1923, a group of scientists were removing the pancreas from dogs as part of an experiment.
(yeah it's messed up)
When they removed the pancreas, the dogs became diabetic.
So with more experimenting, they discovered the substance from the pancreas, later named insulin, that could treat diabetes.
A huge lifesaving breakthrough. (ok maybe it was worth it)
But there is one type of diabetes that is completely preventable: type 2 diabetes.
This one happens because of insulin resistance. From eating too much, gaining too much weight, and not being able to handle all of the blood sugar in your body.
Your pancreas goes into overdrive producing more and more insulin, but eventually your body doesn't respond anymore. The insulin isn't shuttling the nutrients like it once did.
That's when you have to start adding excess insulin - because your body's insulin production just won't cut it anymore.
It's called insulin resistance, and it's a real problem in America today. But insulin resistance isn't just for type 2 diabetics - they're just on the extreme end of it.
It's very possible that you're experiencing some insulin resistance as well, especially if your diet isn't where you want it to be.. Too much sugar, fast food, or just snacking?
Those are definite triggers.
Physically you'd notice difficulty losing weight, possibly weight gain, or even chronic fatigue.
Luckily it's pretty easy to deal with - start exercising more, reduce your sugar and carbohydrate intake (but don't eliminate it), and stick to whole foods.
But if your insulin resistance is related to stress, due to increased cortisol, that's another situation to deal with.
And that's where Equilibrium really shines because it deals with your stress directly - to lower cortisol and through that reduction - to lower insulin resistance.
And when you're sensitive (not resistant) to insulin, fat loss is so much easier.
